Growing Your Online Business

All successful Internet marketers understand that they must be constantly focused on growing their online business. While making passive income is certainly a goal to strive for, it just doesn’t happen overnight and doesn’t happen at all for many Internet marketers. That’s because trends are constantly changing and in order to be successful, you and your site must change with them. For example, you’ve likely heard the term Search Engine Optimization or SEO, which simply means making sure the search engines find your site by optimizing your site so that it ranks as high in the search engine results as possible.  While SEO is important, it certainly isn’t the only aspect of marketing to be concerned with and besides, just because your site is optimized this month, doesn’t mean it will be next month.

Driving traffic to your site or your blog is another phrase every Internet marketer is concerned about, and rightly so. But you must go further than that. What is this "traffic" going to do once they get to your site? Are you targeting your traffic or are you just trying to drive any old traffic to your site? The point is, unless you are working toward driving targeted traffic to your site, you can have a traffic jam on your website and still make no sales. For example, if you are selling specialty dog food and your visitors are looking for dollhouses, how long do you think they will spend at your site? Less than 2 seconds, which is all it takes to click the big red X or press the back button on their browser.

It’s important for you to know who your target audience is before you try to sell to them. Who is your product meant for and how will you find these people? If you’re selling specialty dog food, your target audience is obviously dog owners. Don’t stop there though. What kind of dog do they own? Is this the kind of dog food owners buy to pamper their pooches or is it the kind of dog food their dogs need to eat in order to stay healthy? See what I mean?  You absolutely must know who you are marketing to BEFORE you start marketing. Once you know your target audience, you’ll know where to find them.

Once you find them, treat them like royalty. Over promise and over deliver are two things I always tell people. Always deliver more than you promise and give them more than they ever expect. This is how you keep a customer for life. Competition is keen and if you don’t give your customers what they want, someone else will. Most businesses depend on repeat customers in order to succeed. Give your customers a reason to come back and you’ll build a loyal customer base. Growing an online business takes time, but with a little effort, no, make that a LOT of effort, you can build the online business of your dreams!

Speed Linking Saturday - 24th November 2007

Its Election time here in Australia! By the end of the day we will find out if Prime Minister John Howard will be replaced by Labor Leader Kevin Rudd. My wife is close to giving birth so I’ll be a first time Dad soon.

In this weeks internet marketing and blogging news…

It seems like every week there is a new make money product that you just have to get. Trust me, I have fallen in this trap over and over again. I bought products specifically to learn and get to know what’s the mindset behind the product and if it can actually help me with my own online business. Some of them help me and 90 % do not. If you really want to learn about launching your product the right way. I highly recommend buying his Product Launch Formula that has instantly created hundreds of millionaires by the process he put together Launch plans. I have bought it myself and will be using it in the near future.

Enough about my ramblings. Here are some great links this week:

I actually put together a list of Social Bookmarking sites that I use a month or two ago, Marco put together 30 sites that can help you drive traffic to your blog. http://www.marcorichter.net/blog-traffic/30-social-bookmarking-sites-you-need-to-know.html

Its great to be blogged about from Top bloggers. If you go back to my last five posts, I managed to interview great bloggers… Thanks Michael! http://www.michaelmartine.com/2007/11/23/michael-martine-blogger-interview-by-carlo/

Its a mystery to me on who I should link my blog too. This post helps you decide who to link to. http://blog.seoptimise.com/2007/11/how-to-decide-who-to-link-to.html

One of the Authority bloggers, Chris explains what is an Authority… I will be interviewing him also soon… http://www.chrisg.com/what-is-authority/

To top it off, my good friend Aurelius had a great post about getting your business going. http://www.aureliustjin.com/self-improvement/idea-overload

Have a great Saturday! belated Happy Thanks Giving to those who are celebrating it!!

How To Build and Profit From A “USP”

USP

What sets your business apart from others in the same field as you? And, more to the point , what is truly unique about your business-something “special,” something that your main competitor simply can’t offer or doesn’t offer? Is it the price? the Durability of your product? Is it the convenient hours your open? Great after purchase service? Whatever it is, make sure that this unique quality or your Unique Selling Proposition(USP) is at the heart of all your marketing efforts. If you leave this out of your selling strategy, you are leaving a the main sales weapon at your disposal: UNIQUENESS.

The number of possible USP’s is virtually ca go forever but once you’ve hit the nail on the head, you can make it as your foundation for marketing. Once you do this, you need to fulfill your promises. On the other hand, it can also back fire and ruin your reputation if you don’t provide what you intended.

For example, don’t promise next day deliver products if you really can’t back it up and give your customers speedy service. My point with this is that customers will hold you to your promises, don’t promise a wide range of choices if you have only one of two items to offer. If you disappoint your customers one too many times then you’ll simply lose business and they will end up going somewhere else. I know you don’t want that happen and so do I. A great way to identify your own “USP” you can start a little exercise I learnt from one the great marketing wizards, Jay Abraham.

On a sheet of paper, write down this sentence:

“Most businesses in my industry do ________________. But what we do is _____________.

As a blank spaces suggest, I want you to write in whatever it is that sets you apart from all your competitors… whether it be in your online or offline business. What you do that they don’t do or can’t do is your “Unique Selling Proposition”.

You can absolute build a global by having a great USP, its up to you where you want your business to be in the future.

Cheers!

Outsourcing Internet Marketing Services Effectively?

Outsourcing Your Internet Business Photo by DataArt

Internet marketing is a necessity these days. No matter what type of business you are in, it is important to have internet marketing. Many companies choose to outsource when it comes to internet marketing. While this is a good choice for larger corporations, it is not an always an option for smaller companies. However, if your are considering outsourcing internet marketing services, there are some things to consider.

Webmasters have their hands full with websites chores. Building a website that catches the eye and provides information is difficult. To relieve some of the pressure, outsource internet marketing. Let someone else worry about promoting your website.

Finding good internet marketing is not the chore you may think it is. There are plenty of services that have affordable options for internet marketing. Find a good contractor and save money while getting great personalized service.

There are plenty of huge companies that have extensive internet marketing ploys that will help your website become recognized. However, there are also plenty of individuals and small outfits that will provide similar services. Finding a great internet marketing person is actually not very difficult.

The best way to get internet marketing that is good is to look through portfolios. Look for someone that is producing the type of work you would like done for your website. Direct mailing through e-mail is very simple and easy way to gain business. The e-mails written by individuals are typically much warmer than the ones produced by huge companies. You will also be able to have a little bit more creative input with an individual.

Internet marketing with getting people to view your website. There are services that will add new links to your website gradually. This is an optimum way to increase your Google ranking. The pros of using a professional service include the companies ability to do market research. They will be able to find out where your website will be noticed the most. They also will have the time to locate more directories and linking sites than an individual.

Of course, the results from internet marketing are varied and never guaranteed. Massive services may have e-mails that get caught in spam filters. Individuals may be able to break through these spam filters because they have a regular e-mail address. These are all things to consider when choosing an internet marketing company.

The ability to establish permanent links to your website is key to your success. Sometimes a personal touch is the best way to establish these. By sending out an e-mail introducing yourself and telling other webmasters about your site and your desire to swap links may be a better approach than the e-mail that a large company may send out.

In the beginning start out with low cost internet marketing. Do not get an expensive internet marketing package that the proceeds from the websites will not be able to cover. If you go with professionals, make sure that the services you are getting are worth it. Often times, newcomers to the world of internet marketing fall into the trap of getting more internet marketing than they need. Having a to much internet marketing does not necessarily increase the production of your site. Make sure that you are not being sold services that are simply there to push up the price of their services.

When it comes to internet marketing it is best to do as much as you can on your own. If you simply do not have time or if you are not skilled enough in Internet functions, outsource your marketing. Try to use free services whenever you can and save money by being proactive and innovative.
