Expert Interview Series

Internet Marketing and blogging has been really fruitful for me for the past three months, getting to know a lot of the Top Bloggers and Internet Marketers has helped me move forward.

From studying the principles of Anthony Robbins I decided to practice one of the best ways of learning. Asking yourself great questions that can help you move forward with everything in your life. I thought, what’s the best way to get to know and learn from the experts? The answer… Interview them and ask questions that will help my readers and myself. I’m sick of paying for interviews and insights of experts so I decided to give my interviews for free… Hopefully I can put together great interviews for a book deal later on. ;)

My first Interview is one of my favorite Internet Marketer and Blogger - Courtney Tuttle.

Courtney worked as an Internet Marketing Consultant where he gained a lot of insight in what people need to learn in the Internet Marketing industry. Courtney also owns two thriving sites: His blog, CourtneyTuttle.com and BloggingZoom.com.

I’m glad to present Courtney Tuttle…

When did you first get involved with Internet Marketing/Blogging?

It’s been three years. In 2004 I started working at an internet marketing company and that was how I got started.

What is your Greatest Achievement so far?

Even though BloggingZoom is very young, I would say that it’s my greatest achievement so far. The potential is enormous and it’s already doing really well.

What’s the key behind your sites CourtneyTuttle.com and Bloggingzoom.com?

I would say that I saw needs in the market and filled them.

CourtneyTuttle.com was created to help people to learn internet marketing in a way that is more simple than information that was available at the time. I thought that I could explain concepts in a manner that people could understand and that’s why CourtneyTuttle.com has done so well.

BloggingZoom fills a huge need and gives people a place that they can promote their own content. The success of BZ comes from creating something that wasn’t out there before. BZ is Digg-like, but those who are using it know that it’s nothing like Digg.

How is it unique?

BZ is unique because it allows people to submit their own content. We also take the content that is submitted to help it get ranked in search engines.

We have sites that we have pushed hundreds of search engine hits to, and that is a very unique concept.

What obstacles have you encountered?

With CourtneyTuttle.com, the market is very saturated. It took some time for me to gain traction because of the raw amount of information that’s out there. It was hard at first to stand out from the crowd.

With BloggingZoom the challenge was getting people to believe that the concept would work before there was traffic there. Now that we have some traffic coming that’s getting a lot easier. We had to convince people that the idea was sound, and the first users had to come on faith. We now have traffic that is available for them. ;)

What are your Three Top Tips for building an Internet Business?

1. Work. Most people underestimate how much work it’s going to take to make it online. I don’t work with the internet because it’s easy - I do it because the upside is enormous. I have put in a lot of really hard work to get to where I am.

2. Never stop learning. It takes a lot of knowledge for people to make it with the internet. The second you stop learning your progress will stop.

3. Never quit. Most people quit before they make it. I think that for most people it would be best to start their internet marketing business on the side so there isn’t any financial pressure. That way they can keep working on it, no matter how much time it takes.

Did you secure any finances? If so how did you secure it?

No

Any advice for other start-up Internet Entrepreneurs?

Find a way to be different from everyone else.

Any advice for a traditional business?

Find a way to be different from everyone else. ;)

Your vision of the Web’s Future

It’s going to be enormous. The internet is still a baby and it will grow until most people have businesses online.

How will you stay ahead of the game?

I look for needs and take care of those needs. People that do that will always be able to stay ahead of the game.

Who are your personal Heroes?

I look at people like Henry Ford and Thomas Edison as heroes. They were born with very little and were able to achieve truly great thing.

What are your favorite sites?

To be honest I don’t spend a ton of time on other sites! I would say that the most useful site for me is Copyblogger.com.

What’s the greatest thing about the net?

The ability to market yourself to people anywhere in the world.

What’s the worst?

It’s hard to get started.

What inspires you?

People that achieve their goals without compromising their values.

Final word to your readers.

Work hard. ; )

I would like to thank Courtney for participating and sharing his insights to me and to my readers. Make sure you come back here as I managed to interview and put together a great line up of bloggers and marketers. ;)

Have a great week everyone.

To your Success,

Carlo Selorio

Courtney definitely has something special with BloggingZoom.com. I’ve been using it since day 1 and I’m very happy with what he’s been able to do with it so far. I can’t wait to see where he can take it in the future.

    Hi Jason,

Courtney is by far one of my most trusted marketers and bloggers. I’m sure that BloggingZoom will be competing with Digg or even up to par in the near future.

    Cheers,
    Carlo
