Here are Eight Tips to ensure that your Newsletters have your readers clinging to every word.

1. Have your subscribers in mind by sticking to the specific topic they subscribed for.
When you write your content, it needs to always be aligned to the topic of your target niche market. Don’t fall for the trap of plugging the next product to make a quick buck. Keep your readers in mind when you are writing and promoting other products.

2. Survey your subscribers to find out exactly what they want to hear from you.
When writing an article, you sometimes run out of topics to talk about. By surveying your subscribers, it conveys that you value and care for their needs and wants. You will accumulate loyal readers for reciprocating their request.

3. Research your topic thoroughly to have an “Authority” effect.
Having a sound knowledge of the subject matter you’re writing about, will automatically label you as an “Authority Figure” in your niche. It’s essential to research your covering topic as it gives you that extra edge to write quality content that your niche will value and love to read about.

Remember that ‘First impressions last!’.

5. Stick to a format that will suit your viewers.
When deciding on the format of your newsletter, make sure you think about your readers. You need to connect to your subscribers by making sure you stick to the style they expect to get from you. For example, If your writing a business newsletter, your style of writing must be formally presented instead of having a conversational, laid back tone. Its essesential that you get this right at the beginning and set a benchmark that you can stick too.

6. Proof read your work before sending it to your list.
You are perceived professional when they don’t notice little mistakes like incorrect spelling, punctuation or grammar. Read through your work or ask someone to read and correct your newsletter before broadcasting it to everyone in your list. Double or triple check, it helps you fix the small things that you may have over looked.

7. Always provide Quality not Quantity.
Its good to have the best quality articles that is relevant and interesting to read. There is no point on cranking out hundreds of useless articles when you can write ten or so articles that your readers would read more. The retention of your readers will be higher if you keep the integrity of your newsletter.

8. Use Autoresponders as a way of getting in touch to your readers.
It would be a nightmare if you have thousands on your list and have to manually send your newsletter to each one of your subscribers. It will take hours of your time to do other things in your business or to prepare your business, your time is best serve to optimizing and improving your business. There are great third party autoresponders that you can use without straining your server. Make sure you research so that you are comfortable with the right service for your business.

I read your article with interest. I have a newsletter that is slowly growing. Your points help to validate what I am doing since I have followed most of the points you mention. But I did take note of the “survey your subscribers” and will figure out how to do that. I do use the feed back as a measure of how I am doing and what might be of interests in the future.
You can also get an idea of your readers taste by noting what draws the most comments.

    Thanks for the great article.

I arrived at your site from Courtney Tuttles Group Writing Project.
